Based on the Outline of Chinese Language Proficiency Level, this book series has four levels for students to choose from. Students can select the volume that suits them best in accordance with their own language proficiency level. Most of the articles in this book series are selected from newspapers, magazines and other books, giving a panorama of China and the life of Chinese people. It can help students better recognize and read Chinese characters, learn more new words by heart, improve their level of Chinese proficiency and enhance their understanding of China.

There are 20 articles altogether, all of which are idioms selected from Chinese ancient fables or fairy tales. The time limit and number of words for each story are given before reading it. In addition to the annotations in pinyin, English, Korean and Japanese for the new words, the corresponding pinyin is also provided for each story.
